Беле покладе: Organised by teenagers on Sunday of the last week before Easter fasting it is called Bele Poklade “White carnival” as it is the end of the White week, where dairy & eggs are permitted but not meat. After that, none is allowed. The carnival is rooted in pagan customs and now an example of the partial syncretism with Orthodox christianity. It can be found across Serbian villages, celebrated in different ways.
In Glavica, teenagers wear plastic masks. A faux wedding ceremony is created where boys are dressed as girls, led by a groom & a bride who is also a boy.
